The issue of men’s health is fundamental and, at the same time, delicate for family life. With most partners, problems in bed are rarely discussed, even less likely to be a topic of conversation with friends. The general feeling when bringing up the subject leads to feelings of awkwardness and shame. Usually, a man only seeks help when things get too bad and problems start to snowball.
And what are the problems?
- Decreased sexual attraction (lack of desire to have sex).
- Problems with urination (inflammation of the prostate).
- Impotence (absolute impossibility of sexual activity).
Who is to blame?
In such multi-layered problems related to men’s health, the dominant male hormone – testosterone – is a fundamental factor. Testosterone has a tendency to convert into different forms, such as dihydrotestosterone, which is known as “bad” testosterone when its blood levels are high.
In such cases, dihydrotestosterone greatly affects the manifestation of destructive behavior (desire to “break something,” “fight,” etc.). In addition, its high values lead to:
- Prostate enlargement.
- Loss of hair (baldness).
- Oily skin.
- Aggression.
- Potency problems.
- Erectile dysfunction.
There are two more forms of testosterone – free and bound testosterone. The associated testosterone is responsible for sex drive, male health, and secondary male genitalia. Free testosterone, initially produced by the testicles (pituitary hypothalamus testicles), is responsible for primary sexual characteristics and the volume of muscle mass.
What are the factors destroying men’s health?
Unconditional factors such as the use of alcohol, smoking, and improper nutrition negatively affect men’s health. But who is the most dramatic of all? The answer is: physical activity! And more precisely, its lack.
And what does evolution have to do with it?!
The male body has been evolutionarily created for hundreds of thousands of years as a perfect machine for survival, foraging (hunting), and running (from danger). And no matter how much we try to ignore evolution, the fundamental functions of a man are embedded deep in his genes, and they are to:
- Protect his family from dangers.
- Feed the family by obtaining food.
- Reproduce.
Then everything revolved again: To protect and feed the generation of his generation, etc. Today, men no longer have to hunt wild beasts in nature to feed their families, nor are they in harsh conditions where at any moment an attack by unknown tribes or animals may occur.
The implications of evolution, however, cannot be overlooked. Men unconsciously respond to the “call of nature” with their lively interest and desire to practice risky sports, martial arts, adrenaline hobbies, where they unfold their survival essence. That is why among men we will always meet some “crazy head” who is constantly looking to get involved in some risky situation with high physical activity.
Unfortunately, however, a significant number of men lose this initial, instinctive feeling. This easily happens due to the “usual,” boring and monotonous work mode, routine care for family, children, and then family-household duties. In addition, readily available medicine no longer has anything to “unlock” the survival mode, and the abundance and easy availability of food is simply unreal.
What is the solution?
Categorically, the change in eating habits will be the absolute basis. This can be the exclusion from the menu of high-carb, refined (processed) food, drinking at least 2 liters of water per day and giving up harmful habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption. Sticking to a healthy calorie deficit and proper diet/protocol.
Physical activity, both vigorous and intense, is that trigger that turns on all the survival receptors and all the male sex hormones. It doesn’t matter if it’s training in the gym or running outside. Are you going to swim, or are you in the country and tending the garden? Absolutely any physical activity is the key to a man’s health. It is the way to realize all the male potential laid down by nature.
The opposite (sedentary lifestyle) leads to slow but 100% sure atrophy of the body, early signs of aging, weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure, and countless derivatives of these conditions. Increasing the list, it becomes more and more clear that the organism enters a permanent “emergency” mode, and there is no question of any sexual desire (disorder). That is why the often prescribed therapies with Viagra or testosterone replacements (which in turn lead to a decrease in testicular volume) are only temporary solutions (if misused, they can lead to prostate cancer).
What supplements can be taken to normalize the male hormonal balance?
The effect of physical activity will not go unnoticed. Like workability as well as sexual activity will sharply increase its quality and duration. In order to strengthen some of the processes along the way of this change, it is permissible, and sometimes recommended, to add on a daily basis the use of nutritional supplements such as:
- Tribulus terrestris.
- Saw palmetto.
- Silymarin.
- Apple vinegar.
Is this all?
Of course not! In the intricate web of men’s health, it is evident that the intertwining factors of lifestyle, evolution, and hormonal balance play pivotal roles. Acknowledging the roots of these issues, particularly the impact of testosterone and the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle, unveils a roadmap towards better well-being.
Men’s health, often veiled in silence and stigma, deserves open conversations and proactive measures. By understanding the intricate dance of hormones, the echoes of evolutionary design, and the consequences of modern sedentary living, men can reclaim and sustain their vitality. It’s a journey toward a healthier, more fulfilling life — one that resonates not only in the bedroom but reverberates through every aspect of well-being.
